Troy’s Cooper Campbell Tabbed Sun Belt Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Troy sophomore point guard Cooper Campbell has been named the first Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week of the 2025-26 season after leading the Trojans to a 2-0 record with a pair of road wins during the season’s first week of games.

Campbell becomes the first Troy men’s basketball player to earn the Sun Belt’s top weekly honor since Tayton Conerway on Jan. 7, 2025.

Campbell averaged 20 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.0 steals in 35 minutes per game while shooting 14-for-23 (.608) from the floor and 8-for-14 (.571) beyond the 3-point line in wins at Kent State and Furman.

A Puyallup, Wash., native, Campbell shot 6-for-10 overall and made a trio of 3-pointers to complement eight assists, six rebounds and three steals in a 103-97 overtime win against the Golden Flashes as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Nov. 3 - the season’s opening night. Campbell took the ball end-to-end to score the game-tying layup with less than one second left in regulation to force overtime before scoring seven of his 19 points in the overtime period.

Campbell followed with a career-high 21-point performance in a 64-61 triumph at Furman on Nov. 7. He shot 8-for-13 overall and 5-for-9 from outside while adding five boards, three assists and three steals in the contest. With the game tied at 55 and just 90 seconds remaining, Campbell jumped in front of a Furman outlet pass for a steal and converted a difficult layup at the other end to give the Trojans the lead.
