NEW ORLEANS – Fortuna Ngnawo of Troy opens the 2025-26 season strong, earning the first Sun Belt women’s basketball player of the week honor.

Ngnawo got off to a hot start, helping Troy to its first 2-0 start since 2022-23. She opened the season with a 17-point, 6-rebound and 4-block performance, setting a career-high in blocks.

In the following game against Mississippi Valley State, she again had four blocks while also hitting her first career three pointer as a Trojan helping her record her second career 20-plus point game with 22 points in the win.

In the two games, she shot 14-of-23 from the field, 2-of-2 from deep and 9-of-14 from the charity stripe.
