Southern Miss’ Tylik Weeks Named Sun Belt Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Southern Miss junior forward Tylik Weeks has been tabbed Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after being named Most Valuable Player of the Pensacola Invitational and leading the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins and tournament crown.
 
Weeks becomes the first Southern Miss men’s basketball player to earn the Sun Belt’s top weekly honor since Denijay Harris on Dec. 10, 2024.
 
Weeks averaged 25.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 34.5 minutes per game while shooting 22-for-32 (.688) in non-conference wins over North Florida and UT-Martin in Pensacola, Fla.
 
A New York City native, Weeks scored a career-high 37 points against North Florida on Nov. 22, marking the most by any Sun Belt player this season and the 11th-most in a single game in school history. Weeks shot 15-for-23 from the floor in the 92-83 victory and grabbed six rebounds to complement two assists and one steal.
 
Weeks followed up with 14 points in the championship game, helping the Golden Eagles to a 70-60 victory over UT-Martin on Nov. 23. He shot 7-for-9 overall and grabbed seven rebounds in the contest.
