NEW ORLEANS – App State senior guard Alonzo Dodd has been named Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Mountaineers to a pair of non-conference wins away from their friendly confines.
Dodd becomes the first App State men’s basketball player to earn the Sun Belt’s top weekly honor since former guard Myles Tate on February 11, 2025.
In two games, Dodd averaged 21 points, seven rebounds and 4.5 assists in 35.5 minutes per game, while shooting 13-for-25 (.520) overall, 6-for-10 (.600) from 3-point range and 10-for-14 (.714) at the free throw line.
A St. Paul, Minn., native, Dodd scored a season-high 25 points with seven rebounds and seven assists in an 86-78 overtime win over High Point in the Hickory Hoops Classic in Hickory, N.C., on Dec. 14. All five of his field goals made came from beyond the arc. where he connected on five of his six attempts while making 10 of his 12 free throw attempts.
Dodd started his big week with 17 points, seven boards and two assists in a 67-54 road win over East Carolina on Dec. 11. Dodd shot 8-for-16 and made one trey against the Pirates.
