NEW ORLEANS – After propelling their teams to victories over autonomy conference opposition, Texas State’s Alex Valentin and Coastal Carolina’s Caden Bodine reap the Sun Belt baseball weekly awards, presented by BankPlus. 
 
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Alex Valentin, Texas State
(So., LHP – Hollywood, Fla.)   
 
Bobcats sophomore left-handed pitcher Alex Valentin went 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA over 11.0 innings pitched out of the bullpen for Texas State. The Hollywood, Fla., native posted 11 strikeouts and limited opponents to a .111 batting average in a pair of appearances. Valentin tossed the final 4.2 innings in Texas State’s 7-3 mid-week victory over in-state foe and No. 1-ranked Texas A&M. He struck out five and conceded just two hits to lead the Bobcats to their fourth-ever victory over the country’s No. 1 team. 
 
Baseball Player of the Week
Caden Bodine, Coastal Carolina
(Jr., C – Haddon Heights, N.J.)   
 
Chanticleers junior catcher Caden Bodine hit .438 (7-for-16) and slugged .750, as Coastal Carolina posted a 4-0 week to improve to 10-2 on the season. The Haddon Heights, N.J., product accumulated six runs scored and six RBI, headlined by a walk-off blast in Saturday’s 6-5 victory over Rutgers to secure the series win. Bodine led Coastal Carolina to a mid-week win over UNCW and a three-game series sweep of the Scarlet Knights, with at least one hit and at least one run scored in all four contests.
