NEW ORLEANS — With known commodities returning on both sides of the ball, Old Dominion will commence its 2025 season on Saturday, August 30, when it visits Indiana at 2:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. CT on FS1. 
 
The opener against the Hoosiers will be the first-ever matchup between the two schools. 
 
Old Dominion’s non-conference slate also includes home dates with North Carolina Central (Sept. 6) and in-state foe Liberty (Sept. 27), bookending a road trip to in-state foe Virginia Tech (Sept. 13). Alongside annual matchups with their East Division rivals, the Monarchs will travel to ULM (Nov. 1) and host Troy (Nov. 13) from the Sun Belt West Division. 
 
The Monarchs were picked fifth in the Sun Belt East Division in last month’s 2025 Sun Belt Conference Football Preseason Coaches Poll. 
 
Sixth-year head coach Ricky Rahne will lead a roster that returns five All-Sun Belt picks from 2024 and had four players named to the 2025 Preseason All-Sun Belt teams. 
 
Old Dominion went 5-7 in 2024, falling a win shy of a bowl berth. The Monarchs have earned 2-of-3 all-time bowl appearances under head coach Ricky Rahne over the past four seasons, but are still looking for their first winning season and first bowl victory during his tenure.
