Old Dominion's Joseph, Southern Miss' Foster & Georgia Southern's Cobb Earn Sun Belt Football Weekly Awards

NEW ORLEANS – Old Dominion’s Colton Joseph, Southern Miss’ Ian Foster and Georgia Southern’s Dalen Cobb earned the Sun Belt football weekly awards after leading their respective teams to victory. 
 
Football Offensive Player of the Week
Colton Joseph, Old Dominion 
(RS So., QB – Newport Beach, Calif.) 
 
Monarchs redshirt sophomore quarterback Colton Joseph led Old Dominion to a 45-26 dismantling of in-state autonomy conference foe Virginia Tech—its first-ever win in Blacksburg. The Newport Beach, Calif., product completed 18-of-22 passes for 276 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 63 yards and a score. Joseph led the Monarchs on four-straight touchdown drives to finish the first half, as Old Dominion ran out to a 31-0 lead over the Hokies. The Monarchs are 3-4 all-time against Virginia Tech, with home wins in 2018 and 2022.  
 
Football Defensive Player of the Week
Ian Foster, Southern Miss 
(RS So., DB – Brundidge, Ala.) 
 
Southern Miss redshirt sophomore defensive back Ian Foster carded a career-high 12 tackles as the Golden Eagles defeated App State, 38-22, in the Sun Belt Conference opener. The Brundidge, Ala., native snared a pass that bounced out of a Mountaineer receiver’s hands and returned it for a 99-yard pick six in the second quarter. The interception was 1-of-3 red zone takeaways for the Southern Miss defense, while Foster’s return was tied for the third-longest in program history. Foster tallied three pass breakups on the day, including two that ended App State possessions. 
 
Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Dalen Cobb, Georgia Southern
(Sr., WR – Washington, Ga.) 
 
Eagles senior wide receiver Dalen Cobb accumulated 210 all-purpose yards as Georgia Southern took down Jacksonville State, 41-34, in its home opener. With the game tied at 7-7, Cobb broke off a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown to give Georgia Southern the lead. The Washington, Ga., native’s return was tied for the fifth-longest in program history and was the longest in Paulson Stadium history by an Eagle. Cobb added six catches for 70 yards and a 12-yard rush on offense to go along with 129 yards on kickoff returns.
