Coastal Carolina’s Stout and Rita & Georgia Southern’s Barrett Earn Sun Belt Volleyball Players of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina’s Jalyn Stout and Anna Rita and Georgia Southern’s Kirsten Barrett each turned in impressive performances to lead in various statistics across the league. They have been named Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Players of the Week.
 
Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week
Jalyn Stout, Coastal Carolina

For the second time in three weeks, Coastal Carolina’s Jalyn Stout has earned Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week honors. Stout led Coastal Carolina to a 3-0 week with wins over 2024 Horizon League Champion Cleveland State, Utah Valley, and 2024 NCAA Tournament participant NC State, all in four sets, to win the 2025 Wolfpack Invitational. The junior setter from Gainesville, Fla. was named MVP of the Wolfpack Invitational by recording a triple-double in all three games, extending her NCAA Division I career record to 38. In the three matches, she totaled 47 kills, 46 assists, and 42 digs with 10 blocks and a .300 hitting percentage during the three matches. Stout matched her career-high with seven total blocks in the tournament opener against Cleveland State and accumulated a season-high 17 digs against the Vikings. Stout recorded her 1,200th career assist and recorded her 800th career dig.
 
Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Anna Rita, Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina junior middle blocker Anna Rita aided the Chanticleers to a 3-0 week with wins over 2024 Horizon League Champion Cleveland State, Utah Valley, and 2024 NCAA Tournament participant to sweep the Wolfpack Invitational. Rita was named to the all-tournament team and tallied 25 total blocks and 24 kills in 12 sets played. She recorded a career-high 10 blocks in the tournament opener against Cleveland State and fell one block shy of her first double-double at Coastal with 10 kills and nine blocks against NC State. Offensively, she hit .526 (10-0-19) against Utah Valley and .321 (24-6-56) for the tournament.
 
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Kirsten Barrett, Georgia Southern
(Sr., S, Cleveland, Ohio)
 
Georgia Southern senior setter Kirsten Barrett led Sun Belt with 128 total assists and 10.67 assists per set to earn her second weekly honor of the season. She recorded three straight double-doubles in the Bulldog Classic and had consecutive 40+ assist performances on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday at Georgia, the Cleveland, Ohio native tied her career-high with 53 assists and 14 digs (one away from her career-high). Barrett totaled 40 assists in four sets against Presbyterian with 13 digs. Over the weekend, she added four total blocks, five kills and two aces. Barrett also became the eighth Eagle to surpass 2,000 career assists in the match against FIU on Friday.
