App State’s Wlazlowski & Marshall’s Berryman Earn Sun Belt Cross Country Runners of the Week Honors

NEW ORLEANS – App State’s Thomas Wlazlowski and Marshall’s Destiny Berryman each recorded the fastest team times in their respective races to claim Sun Belt Cross Country Runners of the Week honors. 
 
Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Thomas Wlazlowski, App State

App State sophomore Thomas Wlazlowski clocked an 8K time of 24:58.1 to place 10th at the Virginia Invitational on Friday. The Waxhaw, N.C. native was 13 seconds from his 8K personal best of 24:45.6, which he set last season. For a second consecutive time this fall, Wlazlowski set pace for the App State men and was the first Mountaineer to cross the finish line. He helped the Black and Gold to a third-place finish in the team standings with 88 points at the event.
 
Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Destiny Berryman, Marshall
(So. | Clarksburg, Va.)
 
Marshall sophomore Destiny Berryman led the team for the second consecutive meet with a 5K time of 17:34.9 at the Southern Showcase in Alabama. For Berryman, it was a 17 second cross country PR and a top 50 finish in a field of nearly 500 runners.
