App State's Lewis, Georgia Southern's Bynum & Georgia Southern's Bryant Earn Sun Belt Football Weekly Awards

NEW ORLEANS – Contributions to road conference victories in nationally-televised games propelled App State’s Jaquari Lewis, Georgia Southern’s Anthony Bynum and Georgia Southern’s Tripp Bryant to the Sun Belt football weekly awards.

Football Offensive Player of the Week
Jaquari Lewis, App State
(So., RB – Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)

Mountaineers sophomore running back Jaquari Lewis rushed for a season-high 85 yards and a career-best four touchdowns to propel App State to a 35-32 win over Coastal Carolina. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native also added two catches for 22 yards to go over the century mark for all-purpose yardage. Lewis’ four rushing touchdowns are the most by a Mountaineer since Cam Peoples’ program record five in the 2020 Myrtle Beach Bowl—also inside Brooks Stadium.

Football Defensive Player of the Week
Anthony Bynum, Georgia Southern
(4th Yr., LB – Covington, Ga.)

Eagles fourth-year linebacker Anthony Bynum registered a team-high eight tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks to lead Georgia Southern to a 23-15 victory over Old Dominion. The Covington, Ga., product was a key contributor on a defensive unit that conceded just 65 rushing yards and 266 yards of total offense to the Monarchs. Bynum sealed the game with a late strip-sack forced fumble that was recovered by a teammate to halt a potential game-tying drive for Old Dominion.

Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Tripp Bryant, Georgia Southern
(2nd Yr., K – Lexington, S.C.)

Eagles second-year kicker Tripp Bryant carded 11 points in Georgia Southern’s 23-15 road win over Old Dominion. The Lexington, S.C., native went 2-for-2 on point-after attempts and was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals. Bryant converted 33-, 43- and 31-yard kicks—all in the second quarter—to give Georgia Southern a 16-7 halftime advantage it would never relinquish. He is 21-for-21 on extra-point tries and 8-for-11 on field goal attempts on the year.
