NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana Tech fourth-year defender Madison Pensom and Old Dominion fourth-year defender Libby Holmes garnered Sun Belt Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors following the 2026 season’s second week of league play.
Pensom is Louisiana Tech’s first Offensive Player of the Week since the Bulldogs joined the conference this season, as Holmes becomes the third different Monarch to earn Defensive Player of the Week in as many weeks. Old Dominion is the first Sun Belt program to have three honorees in consecutive weeks in the same season in league history.
Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week?
Madison Pensom, Louisiana Tech

Pensom scored all three goals in an eight-minute span during the Bulldogs’ 3-2 Sun Belt home win over rival ULM on Oct. 4. Her six points, three goals and five shots on goal marked career highs. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Pensom scored each goal in the second half in a different manner, connecting on shots with her left foot, right foot and a header between the 52nd and 60th minutes of the match. The hat trick was the first by a Louisiana Tech player since 2019 and just the fourth by a Sun Belt player this season.
Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Libby Holmes, Old Dominion

Holmes put back a rebound from point blank range in the 72nd minute for the Monarchs’ lone goal in a 1-0 Sun Belt home win over South Alabama on Oct. 3. A leader on Old Dominion’s back line, Holmes and her teammates recorded their fourth-straight shutout in conference play while holding the Jaguars to just four shots overall and two shots on goal.
