NEW ORLEANS – James Madison’s Kennedy Louisell, App State’s MeMe Davis and Georgia Southern’s Lexi Duffy each turned in impressive performances to lead in various statistics across the league. They have been named Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Players of the Week.
Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week
Kennedy Louisell, James Madison
(4th Yr., OH, Grand Rapids, Mich.)
James Madison fourth year outside hitter Kennedy Louisell led the Dukes with a pair of double-doubles and a league-high 68 kills. Louisell led the league with a pair of 34 kill performances and added 10 digs in the series opener and 12 in the five set win over coastal. She added six service aces over the weekend, which was second in the league. Louisell totaled 75.5 points for an average of 7.55 per set as the pair of 34 kill matches marked a league-high for any individual this week.
Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
MeMe Davis, App State
(3rd Yr., L, Gainesville, Fla.)
App State third year libero MeMe Davis led a defensive unit as she totaled a league-high 50 digs in the pair of matches over the weekend. In the series, Davis earned a 6.25 digs per set average that also led the league. She totaled 27 digs in the opener with a service aces and 23 digs in the finale with a pair of service aces.
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Lexi Duffy, Georgia Southern
(4th Yr., S, Murietta, Calif.)
Georgia Southern fourth year setter Lexi Duffy recorded a league-high 103 assists on the week with an 11.44 assists per set average. She recorded a double-double on 59 assists and 17 digs with four kills and a trio of blocks in a 3-2 win against Marshall on October 30th. All her statistical numbers in the series opener were career highs for the Murietta, Calif., native. In the series finale, she contributed another double-double on 44 assists and 16 digs in a 3-1 win.
