Seven Sun Belt Baseball Student-Athletes Earn Preseason All-America Nods, Coastal Carolina's Flukey Dubbed National Preseason Pitcher of the Year

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt—which produced two NCAA Baseball Regional hosts and a College World Series championship series qualifier for the first time in conference history in 2025—had seven student-athletes recognized as Preseason All-Americans entering the 2026 campaign.

Coastal Carolina junior starting pitcher Cameron Flukey headlined the Sun Belt contingent, earning Preseason First Team All-America mention from all four publications—Baseball America, D1Baseball, the NCBWA and Perfect Game.

Flukey, who was also dubbed the National Preseason Pitcher of the Year by Baseball America and Perfect Game, accumulated a 7-2 record with a 3.19 ERA, 118 strikeouts and just 24 walks over 101.2 innings pitched in 2025. The Egg Harbor Township, N.J., native appeared in 18 games with 17 starts as a sophomore, holding opponents to a .209 batting average.

Chanticleers relievers Dominick Carbone and Ryan Lynch and Southern Miss pitcher Colby Allen also received multiple Preseason All-America nods.

Carbone was named a Preseason First Team All-American by D1Baseball and a Preseason Second Team All-American by the NCBWA; Lynch was dubbed a Preseason First Team All-American by the NCBWA and a Second Team All-American by D1Baseball; and Allen was recognized as a Preseason First Team All-American by the NCBWA and a Preseason Second Team All-America by Perfect Game.

The Louisville, Miss., product appeared in 29 games, recording 12 saves and holding opponents to a .214 batting average. Allen will likely transition to the Golden Eagles rotation in 2026.

Troy senior designated hitter Nico Azpilcueta—First Team; Southern Miss senior relief pitcher Kros Sivley—Third Team; and Troy senior first baseman Blake Cavill—Fourth Team; also earned Preseason All-America recognition from the NCBWA.

Azpilcueta hit .320 with 49 hits, 14 doubles, 20 home runs, 49 runs scored and 61 RBI at Stony Brook in 2025. The Sherman Oaks, Calif., native, ranked second in Stony Brook single-season program history with 20 home runs and third with 61 RBI.

The Sun Belt has been a multi-bid conference in 30-of-36 seasons since 1989 and has earned four regional berths on six occasions since 2000, including three of the past four seasons.

Over the past four seasons, the Sun Belt has sent 14 teams to NCAA Baseball Regionals, 10 to NCAA Baseball Regional finals, two to NCAA Baseball Super Regionals and one to the championship series at the College World Series. That grouping has included four regional hosts and national seeds—No. 13 Coastal Carolina (2025), No. 16 Southern Miss (2025), No. 10 Coastal Carolina (2023) and No. 16 Georgia Southern (2022).
