Four Sun Belt Football Alumni Earn First Super Bowl Rings

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt was represented on the National Football League’s (NFL) biggest stage for the eighth-straight season with seven players competing for either the Seattle Seahawks or New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
 
Four Sun Belt alums and members of the Seahawks practice squad earned their first Super Bowl rings in the team’s 29-13 victory over the Patriots. A pair of South Alabama products - linebacker Jamie Sheriff and defensive lineman Wy’Kevious “Bubba” Thomas - earned new hardware along with former App State defensive back Shemar Jean-Charles and former Arkansas State wide receiver Courtney Jackson.
 
Competing for the Patriots, Troy alum and cornerback Dell Pettus played 39 total snaps and recorded two tackles in the game. Former Arkansas State offensive lineman Mehki Butler and former South Alabama wide receiver Jeremiah Webb represented the conference as members of the team’s practice squad.
 
Eighty-three Sun Belt football alumni held roster spots on 31-of-32 NFL rosters at the conclusion of the 2025-26 regular season with 38 advancing to the NFL playoffs. Sun Belt alumni were rostered on all 14 playoff teams.
