Sun Belt Conference Announces 2026 Postgraduate Scholarship Recipients

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference has announced the eight student-athletes selected to receive the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Postgraduate Scholarships.

Arkansas State’s Sarah Millard (Women’s Tennis) and Louisiana’s Caemon Scott (Men’s Track and Field) were the top honorees, each receiving a $9,750 scholarship.
 
Millard, a four-year letterwinner for the Red Wolves, earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Her areas of scholarly interest include human anatomy, physiology, psychopathology, neuromuscular rehabilitation, developmental psychology and research. Millard plans to pursue her Ph. D. in occupational therapy and has been accepted to Arkansas State University’s Occupational Therapy Doctoral program.
 
Scott, a five-year letterwinner for the 3Ragin’ Cajuns as a sprinter for the men’s track and field team, is a seven-time All-Sun Belt honoree and the conference’s 400m indoor champion in 2026 who earned a bachelor’s degree in strategic communication with a minor in criminal justice. He plans to attend the Allan “Bud” Selig Sports Law and Business Program at Arizona State University with the goal of earning a law degree and becoming an athletic director.

"We are honored to recognize these decorated Sun Belt student-athletes and to provide postgraduate scholarship support as they continue to pursue their education,” said Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Keith Gill.

As the overall female and male postgraduate award winners, Millard and Scott will be formally recognized at the Sun Belt Conference Honors Banquet in conjunction with the Sun Belt Fall Meetings on October 13, 2026 in Atlanta.  
 
Marshall’s Jack Betz (Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country) and Abbey Bull (Women’s Golf), Troy’s Makenna Calbert (Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country), Georgia Southern’s Emma Davis (Softball), Southern Miss’ Maddie Ellis (Women’s Soccer) and Old Dominion’s Katie McCormick (Women’s Soccer) will also be awarded $4,500 scholarships.
 
Betz, a four-year letterwinner as a distance runner for the Thundering Herd, graduated from Marshall with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and sport business. He was a four-year member of the Herd’s Student-Athletic Advisory Committee, and will pursue his MBA at his alma mater
 
Bull, a four-year letterwinner for the Herd’s women’s golf team, graduated from Marshall summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in sport management. An Australia native and representative on the Herd’s Student-Athletic Advisory Committee, Bull will attend West Virginia University to pursue a master’s degree in industrial relations and human resources.
 
Calbert, a four-year member on the Trojans’ cross country and track & field programs, graduated from Troy with a bachelor’s degree in nutrition. She will attend graduate school at UAB in pursuit of her master’s degree in nutrition sciences within the university’s dietician education program.
 
Davis, a four-year standout on the Eagles’ softball team, earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and criminology with a minor in philosophy at Georgia Southern. A three-time All-Sun Belt honoree on the field and a three-time College Sport Communicators Academic All-District selection, Davis served three years as a representative on the Eagles’ Student-Athletic Advisory Committee and has already begun graduate school at her alma mater while preparing for law school.
 
Ellis, a three-year letterwinner for the Golden Eagles’ women’s soccer team, graduated summa cum laude from Southern Miss with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences. Her goal is to attend graduate school and become a dentist.
 
McCormick, a three-year letterwinner for the Monarchs’ women’s soccer program, graduated from Old Dominion with a bachelor’s degree in ocean and earth science with a concentration in environmental sciences. McCormick is currently pursuing a master’s degree in ocean and earth sciences at her alma mater while continuing her work as a researcher.

The scholarships are awarded to selected student-athletes with stated intentions to pursue a graduate degree following the completion of their undergraduate requirements and are sent directly to the graduate school of each recipient’s choice. The recipients were selected by the Sun Belt Postgraduate Scholarship Committee, which is comprised of Faculty Athletic Representatives from across the conference.
 
To be eligible for Sun Belt Conference Postgraduate Scholarships, nominees must have exhausted eligibility, been declared or designated a varsity letter winner in a Sun Belt-sanctioned sport at a member institution for at least two seasons and achieved a minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale).
