KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After picking up its fourth ranked win of the season, South Carolina men’s soccer is the unanimous No. 1 selection in this week’s United Soccer Coaches Men’s Soccer Top 25 Poll.
 
South Carolina leads a group of four Sun Belt Conference programs in this week’s poll with No. 15 Old Dominion, No. 21 West Virginia and (RV) Marshall all represented.

The Gamecocks reach the top of the United Soccer Coaches Poll for the first time in program history with the previous best coming with a No. 2 ranking in the final regular season poll of 1987. South Carolina sits at 7-0-0 overall as the nation’s only unbeaten and untied team through five weeks of the 2026 season. The 2026 Gamecocks are the fourth team in South Carolina’s history to start at least 7-0-0 and first since 2003.
 
En route to its undefeated ledger, South Carolina owns wins over No. 16 Clemson, No. 25 Charlotte, No. 14 High Point and No. 13 Old Dominion. South Carolina entered the Top 25 on Sept. 1 as the 13th overall team before moving to sixth and fourth overall in consecutive weeks. Ahead of today’s match against College of Charleston, South Carolina is also the No. 1 team in the Division I Men’s Soccer RPI.
 
The Gamecocks are the first Sun Belt Conference team to reach to top of the poll since Oct. 15, 2024, when West Virginia did so in week eight. Overall, South Carolina is the fourth Sun Belt program to reach No. 1 overall since 2023, joining Marshall, UCF and West Virginia.
