NEW ORLEANS – The second week of the 2026 Sun Belt Conference women’s soccer league schedule kicks off with seven midweek matches beginning Wednesday, September 23 when South Alabama visits Coastal Carolina, followed by six additional contests Thursday evening.
 
All 14 teams will also take the field Sunday, Sept. 27 for the second slate of games to cap the week’s schedule.
 
CAJUNS & MONARCHS
Louisiana’s (7-2-1, 1-0-0 SBC) high-powered offense takes a three-game winning streak on the road to face Old Dominion (3-5-0, 1-0-0 SBC) for a key conference matchup. The Ragin’ Cajuns are led by the Sun Belt’s leading goal-scorer (9 goals) and 2026 Preseason Midfielder of the Year Miku Kurihara and reigning Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week and forward Carson Glenn who has 12 points on five goals and two assists in the team’s last three matches. The Monarchs operate under a stingy defense led by two-time reigning Defensive Player of the Year Ashlynn Kulha, Preseason All-Sun Belt defender Libby Holmes and reigning Defensive Player of the Week in goalkeeper Ellie Goodrich. Louisiana won last year’s matchup between the teams, 2-1, in Lafayette, La.
 
BATTLEGROUND GEORGIA
The Sun Belt’s highest-ranked team in the latest NCAA Division I RPI rankings at No. 42, Georgia Southern (6-1-2, 1-0-0 SBC) travels to in-state rival Georgia State (5-3-1, 0-1-0 SBC) for its first road test in conference play following a 3-0 home win over Arkansas State. The Eagles lead the Sun Belt in save percentage (.840) and shots per game (15.67), as goalkeeper Quinn Wilson ranks first in goals against average (0.64) and individual save percentage (.884). The Panthers have won two-straight and three of the last five meetings between the teams, as they rank second in the conference in points per game (5.89) and shots on goal per game (7.00) this season. Additionally, third-year midfielder Sunniyah Tucker ranks No. 8 nationally in shot accuracy (.714) with five goals and three assists to her name in 2026.

STALEMATE REUNION
James Madison (3-4-1, 1-0-0 SBC) hosts ULM (3-6-1, 0-1-0, SBC) in Harrisonburg, Va., for just the second time as conference foes and the first time since 2023. The meeting will be the fourth overall between the programs since then, as all three previous results ended in draws. The most recent meeting was Nov. 4, 2024 in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Championship in Foley, Ala., where the top-seeded Dukes outlasted the Warhawks, 4-3, in penalty kicks following double-overtime, scoreless draw.
 
SUN BELT IN THE RPI
As of Monday, Sept. 21, the Sun Belt has four teams ranked in the top 100 of the latest NCAA RPI rankings, led by No. 42 Georgia Southern and No. 56 Louisiana. They are trailed by No. 61 App State and No. 99 Old Dominion.
 
FINDING FOLEY
The 2026 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Soccer Championship will take place November 9-14 in Foley, Ala., marking the 11th-consecutive season the Foley Sports Tourism Complex hosts the event. Eight teams will compete in the tournament beginning with quarterfinal matches on Monday, Nov. 9, followed by semifinal matches on Wednesday, Nov. 11 and the championship on Saturday, Nov. 14.
