SUN BELT CONFERENCE BEACH VOLLEYBALL TIEBREAKERS
Seeding: The seeds for the Championship shall be determined by each team’s won-loss percentage in conference matches during the regular season.
Conference Matches During Regular Season: Conference matches during the regular season are defined as all matches played during the pre-identified conference weekend, as well as any matches played between institutions who did not play during the pre-identified conference weekend but do play at a different time during the spring competition season.
If teams who did not play during the pre-identified conference weekend play multiple matches against each other during the season, coaches must identify what match will count towards the conference standings no later than February 1st via the conference match designation form. Priority should be given to a match played at a neutral (neither of the competing teams serve as host) location. Subsequent matches may be ranked in order of play should weather or other cancellations impact the match that was identified as counting towards the conference standings.
The maximum number of countable conference matches is 7 matches, 1 match against each conference opponent.
In the event of a tie for a particular seed, the tiebreaking procedure below shall be used to break the tie:
Two Team Tiebreaker
A. The team with the better Head-to-Head record shall be seeded higher.
B. If both teams have the same winning percentage in head-to-head competition, the team with the better winning percentage of individual matches shall be seeded higher.
C. If a tie still exists, the team with the better winning percentage of sets won in head-to-head competition shall be declared the higher seed.
D. If a tie still exists, the team having the best for/against ratio of points scored in the head-to-head Conference matches shall be declared the higher seed.
E. If a tie still exists, the team with the better winning percentage of individual matches won in all Conference matches shall be declared the higher seed.
F. If a tie still exists, the team with the better winning percentage of sets in all Conference matches shall be declared the higher seed.
G. If a tie still exists, the team having the best for/against ratio of points scored in all Conference matches shall be declared the higher seed.
H. If a tie still exists, the winner of a coin toss by the Commissioner shall be declared the higher seed.
Three or More Teams Tiebreaker
A. The team having the best winning percentage when looking at the pool of head-to-head matches between the tied teams shall be declared the higher seed.
B. If a tie still exists, the team having the best winning percentage of individual matches won between the tied teams shall be declared the higher seed.
C. If a tie still exists, the team having the best winning percentage of sets between the tied teams shall be declared the higher seed.
D. If a tie still exists, the team having the best for/against ratio of points scored in the Conference matches between the tied teams shall be declared the higher seed.
E. If a tie still exists, the team having the best winning percentage of individual matches won in all Conference matches shall be declared the higher seed.
F. If a tie still exists, the team having the best winning percentage of sets in the Conference matches shall be declared the higher seed.
G. If a tie still exists, the team having the best for/ against ratio of points scored in Conference matches shall be declared the higher seed.
H. If a tie still exists, the winner of a coin toss by the Commissioner shall be declared the higher seed.
I. For all ties of three or more teams, the progression of the tie-breaker shall be followed until the highest seed amongst the tied is determined. If one team falls out of contention for the higher seed, the remaining teams will continue down the tiebreaker until a higher seed is determined. Once the highest seed is determined, said team is removed from the pool of tied team and the tie of the remaining tied teams is broken by starting over from the beginning of the applicable tie-breaker.
