Al Wilson was hired by the Sun Belt Conference as Assistant Commissioner, Championships and Sports Administration, in January 2023. He currently serves as the primary sports and championship administration liaison for volleyball, tennis, and track and field.
Wilson leads in-venue marketing for all Sun Belt championships, while administering sponsorship fulfillment, conference awards and sports administration responsibilities.
Wilson arrived at the Sun Belt after nearly two years as the Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement at his alma mater, Nicholls State University. In his role, Wilson supervised all marketing, broadcast, social and creative media as well as game operations. He began his professional career as a Marketing and Championships Assistant at the Southland Conference from 2019-21.
Wilson graduated from Nicholls State with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications with a concentration in journalism. He was a four-year letterwinner as an offensive lineman on the Colonels’ football program and served as President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for two years. He was also elected Managing Editor of Gardé Voir Magazine.
