George McLaughlin joined the Sun Belt Conference as Director of Championships in August 2025, bringing extensive experience in collegiate athletic marketing, fan engagement, and event operations.
Before joining the Sun Belt, McLaughlin served as Director of Athletic Marketing and Student Promotion at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he led fan engagement initiatives for football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and multiple Southland Conference Championship events. In this capacity, he developed comprehensive marketing and promotions plans, produced game-day run-of-show operations, coordinated in-venue entertainment, and managed budgets for promotional campaigns. McLaughlin also oversaw content creation for Southeastern’s main athletics channels, managed game-day staff, and spearheaded major campus events.
McLaughlin’s leadership extended to hosting conference tournament operations for baseball, softball, and volleyball, overseeing marketing strategies, in-game promotions, and fan experience enhancements that elevated Southeastern’s championship hosting profile. He began his tenure with Southeastern as a Graduate Assistant in 2021 before being promoted to Director in 2022.
A Louisiana native, McLaughlin earned his B.S. in Sport Administration from Louisiana State University and his M.A. in Strategic Communications from Southeastern Louisiana University. He is passionate about creating memorable game-day experiences and advancing the visibility of collegiate athletics through innovative marketing and fan-focused programming.
