2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Men’s Soccer Teams
NEW ORLEANS – Three Sun Belt men’s soccer student-athletes earned recognition on the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Teams, as selected by CoSIDA.
Coastal Carolina boasted a pair of honorees with junior defender Henrik Mueller named to the first team and junior forward Tyrone Mondi named to the third team, while Appalachian State senior goalkeeper Jake Chasteen garnered second-team accolades.
Mueller, a second-team Academic All-America selection a year ago, has a 4.00 grade point average and is set to graduate with a degree in management. Mondi, with a 4.00 GPA, is majoring in accounting. It is the first time in Coastal Carolina men’s soccer history to have two players receive Academic All-America status by CoSIDA in the same season. Mueller and Mondi are the fourth and fifth honorees in program history.
Chasteen is the first Mountaineer since Stephen Chapman in 2016 to be recognized for his efforts on and off the field with a 3.91 GPA. He is set to graduate in December with a degree in exercise science with a pre-professional concentration and a minor in chemistry.
This marks the fourth-straight season the Sun Belt has had at least one men’s soccer student-athlete following Hartwick’s Jack Miller in 2015, Chapman in 2016 and Georgia Southern’s Emil Laursen in 2017.
