KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Along with being named the Sun Belt's Offensive Player of the Week, Appalachian State freshman forward Camden Holbrook continues to rake in the weekly awards, where he was named the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Holbrook had as good an opening weekend as you could ask for from a freshman, as he registered a staggering four goals with one assist, two game-winning scores and nine points in two victories against Jacksonville in overtime, 3-2, on Friday in the season opener and against North Florida on Sunday, 2-0. 

His performance helped the Mountaineers start 2-0 to the season for the first time since 2012 and win back-to-back matches for the first time since 2015. 

"Very deserving recognition for Camden, as he had a superb opening weekend to our season and his college career," head coach Jason O'Keefe stated. "These awards are special because it takes a team effort to put individuals into position to achieve special things like Camden did this weekend. We are so very pleased for him."

The Cary, N.C., native became the first player since 2009 (Arie Muniz) to collect a hat trick when he notched three goals including the game-winner in overtime against the Dolphins. Following up that exceptional outing was a goal and an assist against the Ospreys two days later. His goal that gave the Black and Gold in the second period was the game-winner while he collected his first-collegiate assist to fellow freshman Alex Hernadez for his first-career goal that gave the Black and Gold a 2-0 lead and the eventual triumph over UNF.

After the first weekend, Holbrook leads the Sun Belt in all three categories, while he is tied for first in the nation in points, goals and game-winning scores.
