AROUND #SUNBELTMSOC
• Seven contests highlight this week’s schedule for Sun Belt men’s soccer. The East Tennessee State at Georgia Southern matchup on Saturday, Sept. 22 is set for live coverage on ESPN+.

• No. 24 Coastal Carolina returns to action for the first time in 19 days due to Hurricane Florence on Friday, Sept. 21 at William & Mary. Both of the Chanticleers’ home matches were canceled last week, but the team found time to get some work in down in Orlando, Fla. at the home of the Orlando City Soccer Club.

• Appalachian State’s match with Elon has been moved to Wednesday, Oct. 17 with the Mountaineers hosting a 6 p.m. CT kickoff.

• Coastal Carolina enters the week ranked 24th in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I National Poll, 17th by TopDrawerSoccer.com and 22nd by College Soccer News. In this week’s United Soccer Coaches Southeast Region poll, the Chanticleers remain ranked third with Georgia Southern sitting in seventh.

• Georgia State is on a five-match winning streak. The last time the Panthers went on a five-game winning streak was in 2016 when Georgia State earned 14 wins and made it to the Sun Belt Tournament final.

• After not scoring a goal through five matches in 2017, Howard has scored five goals through its first five matches so far this season, including hitting back of the net in four of those five matches.

• Georgia State junior defender Kyle Clinton is one of 31 student-athletes on the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy Men's Watch List.

•  The 2018 Sun Belt Men’s Soccer Championship is set for Nov. 7-11 at Eagle Field/Erk Park in Statesboro, Ga., hosted by Georgia Southern.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Javier Carbonell, Georgia Southern (Sr., MF/F, Madrid, Spain)
Georgia Southern senior midfielder/forward Javier Carbonell became the first Eagles’ men's soccer player in 20 years to notch four goals in one match, delivering four goals in the come-from-behind 5-3 win at Jacksonville. Carbonell scored on a free kick, a penalty kick, a header and a long-range shot to help Georgia Southern erase a 3-1 second-half deficit. He joins Jack Evans (twice) and Jeremy McClure (once) as the only men's soccer players in school history to notch four goals in one match. For his efforts, Carbonell earned National Team of the Week honors by Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
George Proctor, Georgia State (So., D, Leeds, England)
Georgia State sophomore defender George Proctor played a key role in the Panthers’ 2-0 record over the week. Proctor scored the game-winning goal off a free kick from about 30 yards out in the 2-1 road victory over Belmont and helped the Georgia State back line earn its second shutout of the year in a 4-0 win over Presbyterian. He has aided a Panthers defense that ranks first in the Sun Belt in goals against average (0.71).
