Coastal Carolina Faces North Carolina State in 2019 NCAA Men’s Soccer First Round

INDIANAPOLIS – Coastal Carolina is headed to Raleigh, N.C., to take on North Carolina State in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship.
 
Coastal Carolina (9-7-3, 3-2 Sun Belt) and North Carolina State (9-6-3, 3-4-1 Atlantic Coast) meet on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. CT at the Dail Soccer Field/Track Complex with live coverage on ACC Network Extra. The winner of this first-round matchup takes on No. 8 seed SMU (16-1-1, 5-1-1 American Athletic) in Dallas on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. CT.
 
The two teams have met four times previously with North Carolina State holding a 3-1 all-time series lead. Coastal Carolina won 3-1 in the last meeting in 2014 in a match also played in Raleigh.
 
The Chanticleers are making their third NCAA Tournament appearance as a member of the Sun Belt and 16th all-time in school history. Sun Belt teams are 3-6-1 (.350) in seven NCAA Tournament appearances all-time. Coastal Carolina is responsible for the Sun Belt's three postseason victories – against Radford in 2016 and Mercer and Clemson in 2017. The Chanticleers' 2017 NCAA Tournament run ended in the third round to eventual national champion and ninth-seeded Stanford.
