2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Men’s Soccer Teams
NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina senior forward Tyrone Mondi received first-team recognition on the 2019 Academic All-America® NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Teams, as selected by CoSIDA.
This is Mondi’s second CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition after being named to the third team last season.
Mondi joins former Chanticleers Joseph Ngwenya (2003) and Henrik Mueller (2018) as first-team honorees. He is the seventh Academic All-America selection for Coastal Carolina and is just the fourth Chanticleer to be named to two Academic All-America teams.
This is just the latest in a string of honors for Mondi this season. He received 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District honors earlier to go along with his second-team All-Sun Belt honor.
Mondi's recognition marks the fifth-straight season the Sun Belt has had at least one men’s soccer student-athlete receive Academic All-America honors, joining Hartwick’s Jack Miller in 2015, Appalachian State's Stephen Chapman in 2016, Georgia Southern’s Emil Laursen in 2017 and Mondi, Mueller and Appalachian State's Jake Chasteen in 2018.
