• Nine matches are on the slate for Sun Belt Conference men's soccer this week with four set for live coverage.
• Coastal Carolina (4-2-0) remained ranked in this week's national polls – 24th in the
College Soccer News Top 30 National Poll. For the second-straight week, the Chanticleers were also among the teams receiving votes in the
United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I National Poll.
• Coastal Carolina head coach Shaun Docking picked up his 300th collegiate head coaching victory in the Chanticleers' 4-2 win over Radford on Sept. 21. Docking is in his 24th season as a college coach and his 22nd guiding Coastal Carolina. He ranks in the top 20 in NCAA Division I head coaching win among active head coaches.
• Georgia State (4-0-2) enters the week undefeated through its first six matches for the first time since 2003. Junior forward Aris Briggs continues to be one of the top goal scorers in Division I. He leads the country in goals per game (1.33) and shares the co-lead in total goals (8).
• Georgia State senior defender Kyle Clinton was
one of 30 men's soccer student-athletes on the initial list for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award®. The initial list will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2019 NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Cup® championships in December.
• Appalachian State (5-2-0) scored four goals in its win at UNC Greensboro on Sept. 21, marking the most goals for the Mountaineers in a road match since 2009.
• Georgia Southern (3-3-0) looks to snap its two-match losing streak at UAB on Sept. 24. The Eagles and Blazers have met five times previously with UAB holding a 3-0-2 series lead.
• Central Arkansas (4-2-1) leads the Sun Belt in assists (12) and assists per game (1.71). Eleven different Bears have been credited with an assist this season led by junior midfielder Kyosuke Kubota with three.
• Howard (1-4-1) enters the week ranked tied for fifth nationally in saves per game (6.33). Senior goalkeeper Carlos Caro leads the Sun Belt in saves (27) and saves per game (5.40).
• Coastal Carolina senior forward Tsiki Ntsabeleng, the 2019 Sun Belt Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, made his return to the pitch a memorable one with his first goal of the season in the Chanticleers' 1-0 win over Campbell on Sept. 17. Ntsabeleng had missed the team's first four games due to injuries.
• The 2019 Sun Belt Men's Soccer Championship, hosted by Appalachian State, is set for Nov. 13-17 at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex in Boone, N.C.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sam Snaith, Coastal Carolina (Fr., F, Cardiff, United Kingdom)
Coastal Carolina freshman forward Sam Snaith pulled off a hat trick in the Chanticleers' 3-2 victory over Radford. Snaith's first-half goal sent Coastal Carolina into the locker room at halftime up 1-0. His two second-half goals gave the Chanticleers the win with the game-winner coming in the 64th minute. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Zeiko Harris, Appalachian State (Jr., D, Sandys Parish, Bermuda)
Appalachian State junior defender Zeiko Harris anchored the Mountaineers' backline that put up a win over UNC Greensboro. Harris also added a goal off a free kick in the 4-2 victory, marking his second goal of the season.
