Coastal Carolina's Clarke, Troy's Charron to Attend NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum

NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina volleyball’s Keera Clarke and Troy men’s golf’s Eli Charron will represent the Sun Belt Conference at the upcoming NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum as announced by the Conference office on Monday.

The NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Form, created in 1997, has served as a life-changing experience for more than 5,000 student-athletes who have grown personally and professionally as a result of their attendance. Student-athletes selected to attend the forum return to campus with invaluable leadership skills, a refined understanding of the relationship among personal values, core beliefs and behavioral styles, and the support of a close personal network of like-minded peers to provide continued connection and dialogue after the program concludes.

Despite competing year round, Charron has maintained a 4.0 GPA majoring in Accounting, having been named to the Chancellor’s List for five consecutive semesters. The junior has been a member of Troy’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee since August 2018, serving on the conference’s SAAC since Fall 2019.

As a SAAC member, Charron helped raise $10,000 for breast cancer research through Troy's "Bench Out Breast Cancer" event this past fall.

A transfer student-athlete, Clarke came to CCU from Southern Illinois University in January 2019. Clarke earned a 3.9 GPA this past fall while balancing 40 plus hours of training, practicing and competition with the Chanticleers. A redshirt sophomore, Clarke has served on Coastal Carolina’s SAAC since spring 2019.

Outside of competition, Clarke has volunteered as a volleyball instructor and while working towards a career in Recreation and Sport Management, is currently interning with CCU’s media relations department.

The 2020 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum will be held in Los Angeles, Calif., April 16-19.
