NEW ORLEANS — Little Rock’s Anton Albers and Arkansas State’s Julien Sale were named to the
2021 Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division I PING All-Region Teams.
Albers posted a 72.66 scoring average across 29 rounds. The Buchholz, Germany, native averaged 1.14 strokes over par and had two tournament wins during the 2020-21 campaign. After helping the Trojans advance to the NCAA final site for the first time in program history with a fifth-place finish at the Stillwater Regional, Albers concluded the year as the No. 132-ranked player in NCAA Division I.
Sale—the Sun Belt Men’s Golfer of the Year—paced the Sun Belt with a 71.42 scoring average over 24 rounds. The Saint-Louis, Reunion Island, native averaged .58 strokes under par while posting five Top 10 finishes in eight tournament appearances. He was the individual medalist at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate and finished the year as the No. 72-ranked player in NCAA Division I.
Albers and Sale, who were each recognized in the GCAA’s Central Region, were First Team All-Sun Belt selections in 2021.
Little Rock and Arkansas State joined Sun Belt men’s golf champion Georgia Southern in the NCAA postseason as at-large selections, with the Trojans giving the Sun Belt representation at the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship final site for the second-straight season.
