High Stakes Rematches Fill Sun Belt Women's Basketball Week Four Slate

NEW ORLEANS - The fourth week of Sun Belt women's basketball feautures a rematches between some of the leagues top teams that will shake up the conference standings. 

All games will be available on ESPN+. 

GAME OF THE WEEK
The Sun Belt women’s basketball game of the week features a rematch between Georgia Southern (12-4, 5-1) and James Madison (11-7, 3-3). The two teams met on Jan. 7th where the Eagles won 78-70. Eagles’ forward Kishyah Anderson led all players with 26 points while Shanti Simmons led all players with 10 rebounds. The Eagles outshot the Dukes .552 to .432 and held the leagues leading scorer, James Madison’s Peyton McDaniel, to just 10 points. The rematch takes place in Harrisburg where the Dukes are 8-3 and have yet to lose a conference game this season.
 
HERD HOT STREAK
Marshall (15-3, 6-0) has won 10 straight dating back to Nov. 30th. Under the direction of second year head coach Juli Fulks, Marshall is off to their best start in league play since the 2023-24 season, the last time they won the Sun Belt Conference title. The Herd are led by Timaya Lewis-Eutsey who is averaging 16.8 points, 3.6 steals and 3.4 steals per game. Marshall has also seen consistency from freshman Olivia Olson who is second on the team in scoring with 12.9 points per game average. The Herd have two tough matchups this week with rematches against both James Madison and Old Dominion, two games they won by less than 10 in their first meetings this season.
 
THE LEAGUE LEADERS
Troy (13-3, 4-1) leads the league in both scoring offense (85.6) and rebounds (50.6). Their 85.6 point per game average ranks 13th nationally while their 50.6 rebounds per game ranks 2nd, behind just No. 13 Oklahoma. Three of the Trojan’s starters are averaging double digit scoring figures in Fortuna Ngnawo Fortuna (15.4), Emani Jenkins (13.0) and Zay Dyer (12.4). Dyer is also averaging 11.6 rebounds per game which ranks sixth nationally and makes her the only player in the league and one of six players nationally averaging a double-double.
 
PARTY IN PENSACOLA
The 2026 Visit Pensacola Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Air Force Reserve will be held March 3-9, 2026 at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla., The championship game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 on Monday, March 9. The 2026 tournament will mark the sixth consecutive season the Sun Belt hosts the event in Pensacola, which will remain at the venue through the 2029-30 campaign. A different program has been crowned champion in each of the first five years in Pensacola: Arkansas State (2025), Marshall (2024), James Madison (2023), UTA (2022) and Troy (2021).

Five Sun Belt teams rank in the top 100 of the NET. Troy has the best NET at 59, followed by James Madison (66), Marshall (83), Georgia Southern (86) and Arkansas State (93).
