Georgia State Holds Off Oakland, Improves to 4-2

Georgia State holds off late Oakland surge 83-78

ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) R.J. Hunter scored 29 points as Georgia State held off a late Oakland surge for an 83-78 victory on Wednesday in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic.

Georgia State led by as many as 13 points in the second half, but Kahlil Felder scored Oakland's final eight points to make it a one-possession game late.

Felder made three consecutive layups for Oakland, the last to bring them within 81-76 with 1:04 left. Georgia State wound down the clock, but Kevin Ware missed a layup and Felder made two free throws on the other end to get within 81-78.

Hunter made an easy layup with 19 seconds left, Felder missed a layup and Georgia State ran out the clock.

Markus Crider added 17, Ware 15 and Ryan Harrow 14 for Georgia State (4-2).

Max Hooper led Oakland (1-5) with 21 points and Felder had 18.

Coastal Carolina defeats UL Monroe 61-48

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) Josh Cameron hit four 3-pointers and scored 17 points to lead Coastal Carolina to a 61-48 win over UL Monroe on Wednesday in the Battle 4 Atlantis Mainland Bracket.

The Chanticleers (4-1) play Chattanooga for the title Thursday; the Warhawks (2-2) face Robert Morris.

Shivaughn Wiggins added 11 points and Warren Gillis 10 for Coastal Carolina, which made 8 of 9 free throws in the second half to protect the 33-23 lead it had built in the first half. Cameron had 11 points at the break.

Majok Deng had 14 points and 10 rebounds for UL Monroe and Justin Roberson added 11 points.

Coastal Carolina was up 37-25 when Gillis made two free throws after a technical foul and hit a jumper on the ensuing possession. Louisiana-Monroe was never able to get the deficit back to single digits the rest of the way.
