Georgia Southern beats Stetson in 76-67 comeback win
DELAND, Fla. (AP) Jelani Hewitt scored 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Georgia Southern to a 76-67 win over Stetson on Thursday night.
Trailing 40-33 at the break, Georgia Southern (6-2) took the lead for good late in the second half with a 9-2 spurt capped by a 3-pointer from Curtis Diamond that made it 70-63 with 1:45 to go. Hewitt sank a layup and went 4 of 4 from the free-throw line down the stretch to cement the win.
Trent Wiedeman contributed 10 points and five rebounds, and reached 1,000 career points early in the game on a three-point play. He entered the game with 997 career points.
Diamond and Angel Matias finished with 10 points apiece for the Eagles, who held a 38-25 rebounding advantage in the win.
Grant Lozoya led Stetson (3-9) with 20 points, Cameron Harvey had 15 and Divine Myles 14 with eight assists.

Charlotte comes back over Appalachian State 75-65
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Torin Dorn scored 14 points and Charlotte erased a halftime deficit and beat Appalachian State 75-65 on Thursday.
Appalachian State scored the first 10 points and the last six points of the first half and took a 32-27 at intermission.
Charlotte hit 4 of its first 6 shots of the second - including 3-pointers by Braxton Ogbueze and Terrence Williams - to tie at 37. An 11-4 run midway through the frame gave the 49ers a five-point lead and while the Mountaineers got it to two points on two occasions, they never got over the hump.
A pair of 3-pointers from Keyshawn Woods (12 points) on consecutive possessions gave Charlotte an eight point lead with 6:40 left. Ogbueze finished with 13 and Willie Clayton added 12.
Frank Eaves paced Appalachian State with 20 points, despite shooting 4 of 11 from the floor. He was 11 of 13 from the line.

Richmond beats South Alabama 65-54
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Kendall Anthony scored 18 points, Terry Allen added 17 - including the go-ahead basket - and Richmond held off South Alabama 65-54 Thursday night.
ShawnDre' Jones scored 14, T.J. Cline added 10, and the Spiders (5-4) outrebounded the Jaguars 39-38 and converted 15 South Alabama fouls into 11 of 14 free throws.
Dionte Ferguson, Taishaun Johnson and Ken Williams each scored nine for South Alabama (2-6).
Jones hit a layup to give Richmond a 6-4 lead, sparking a 12-3 run, and the Spiders pulled ahead 21-11 on a jumper by Jones. South Alabama gained ground on a 12-5 run but trailed at halftime 28-25.
South Alabama's Williams tied it at 44-all with a 3-pointer at 9:11 and Abdul Lewis put the Jaguars up 46-44 with a jumper. Richmond regained the lead 47-46 on a free throw by Allen then used 12-4 run to pull ahead. Allen scored five points in the final 1:20 to help seal the win.
