UALR Rally Falls Short vs. Tulsa

Tulsa holds on against UALR 78-73

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) James Woodard hit five 3-pointers and scored 20 points to go with 10 rebounds as Tulsa held off UALR 78-73 on Sunday.

Woodard had scored 19 and 23 in Tulsa's two previous games.

Shaquille Harrison added 17 points, Rashad Ray had 11 and Marquel Curtis 10 for Tulsa (5-3). Woodard was 7 of 11 from the field as Tulsa made 22 of 43 shots (51.2 percent).

UALR (4-3) was led by Josh Hagins with 20 points and J.T. Thomas hit five 3-pointers and finished with 19. The Trojans were just 24 of 67 (35.8 percent) from the floor.

It was the first time in eight matchups between the schools since 2006 that an away team has won. It was also UALR's first loss at home this season in five games.

Green leads Hofstra over Appalachian State 68-51

BOONE, N.C. (AP) Juan'ya Green scored 17 points and Malik Nichols had 10 points with 10 rebounds to lead Hofstra to a 68-51 victory over Appalachian State on Sunday.

Green scored nine points in the first half to help Hofstra build a 29-26 halftime lead. Appalachian State made it 37-36 before Dion Nesmith scored to give Hofstra a 38-37 lead with 11:46 to play, and the Pride led the rest of the way.

A 14-5 run stretched Hofstra's lead to 58-47 with 2:35 left, and the Pride shot 10 of 10 from the line to seal it.

Ameen Tanksley scored 13 points, Nesmith had 11 and Brian Bernardi chipped in 10 for Hofstra (6-2), which is off to its best start since the 2008-09 season.

Frank Eaves scored 13 points to lead Appalachian State (3-3), which shot just 18 of 53 from the floor for 34 percent.
