UT Arlington rolls past Texas State 65-53

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) Jalen Jones scored 17 points and UT Arlington cruised to a 65-53 win over Texas State Tuesday night.

The Mavericks doubled up Texas State in the first half, taking a 32-16 lead into the intermission and pushing the advantage to 52-23 with under eight minutes to play.

The Bobcats were down by 20 points with 2:12 left, but had a late rally to outscore UT Arlington 12-4 to set the final margin. D'Angelo West was fouled on a field-goal attempt behind the 3-point line and converted all three attempts and Austin Evans dunked with seven seconds left.

The Mavericks climbed into a three-way tie for third place in the Sun Belt Conference with Arkansas State and UL Monroe.

Drew Charles and Erick Neal scored 14 and 10 points, respectively, for UT Arlington (16-7, 7-5).

Kavin Gilder-Tilbury scored 13 points to lead Texas State (9-12, 3-9).
