Little Rock, UT Arlington Win Rivalry Games on Tuesday Night

Woods has 30 points, Little Rock beats Arkansas St.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) Roger Woods had a career-high 30 points as Little Rock picked up a record-breaking 27th win, beating Arkansas State 89-80 on Tuesday night.

The Trojans, who had 26 wins in the 1986-87 season, also had their highest point total against a Div. I program this year.

Little Rock (27-3, 17-2), which has the best record in the nation, already clinched the regular-season Sun Belt title and concludes its regular schedule against Appalachian State on Thursday.

Woods was 11 of 15 from the floor, Marcus Johnson Jr. had 17 points and Josh Hagins chipped in 15 points with seven assists.

The Trojans never trailed and were up 48-38 at the break. They pushed the lead to 60-48 with 15:49 left. The Red Wolves closed to 86-78 with 2:04 remaining but could get no closer.

Devin Carter led Arkansas State (11-18, 7-11) with 22 and Anthony Livingston added 18 points and 22 rebounds.

UT Arlington rolls past Texas State 75-69

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Kaelon Wilson had 13 points and Charles Drew added 11 to help lead UT Arlington to a 75-69 victory over Texas State on Tuesday night.

Jalen Jones and Nick Pallas added 10 points apiece and Erick Neal dished out nine assists for UT Arlington (20-9, 11-7) which is battling for a first-round bye in the Sun Belt Conference tournament with two home games remaining in the regular season. The Mavericks, who have won six of their last eight games, moved into a tie for third place with Louisiana-Lafayette.

UT Arlington has only five 20-win seasons in its history.

The Mavericks jumped out to a 39-28 halftime advantage and were up 52-40 with 14:03 left. Texas State's Ethan Montalvo drilled a trey to start a 15-4 run as the Bobcats closed to 56-55 with 8:11 left. The Mavs answered with a 15-3 run and the win.

Emani Gant led Texas State (12-15, 6-12) with 15 points.
