ARLINGTON, Texas -- UT Arlington men's basketball accepted an invitation Sunday to participate in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. The Mavericks (23-10) will open the tournament on the road at Savannah State (16-15) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT.
"The CIT is a great reward for our guys and the work they've put in all season," UT Arlington coach Scott Cross said. "We have a very resilient group that has already had one of the best seasons in school history. Playing in the postseason is something we don't take for granted. I'm proud of this team and we're not ready for our season to end."
The CIT marks the fifth all-time postseason berth for UT Arlington, four coming under Cross. The Mavericks are in the CIT for the second time, with the other appearance coming in 2013.

Cross also become the program's all-time leader in wins this season. Sophomore point guard Erick Neal was named first-team all-Sun Belt Conference and his 197 assists this season are tried for the second-most on UTA's single-season list.
UTA's other postseason trips under Cross are the 2008 NCAA Tournament and 2012 National Invitational Tournament. UTA also took part in the 1981 NIT. UTA is 0-4 in postseason tournaments.
Savannah State of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference last reached the postseason in the 2013 CIT. The Tigers were 9-7 in the MEAC and 12-2 at home this season. SSU is coached by Horace Broadnax.
