Football Players of the Week Announced - Week 7

Offensive Player of the Week

Andre Nunez, Louisiana (Sr., QB, Pacoima, Calif.)
Louisiana senior quarterback Andre Nunez tied a school record for touchdown passes with five in the Cajuns' 66-38 win over New Mexico State this past Saturday. The Pacoima, Calif. native also compiled a career-high 315 passing yards on 19-of-25 attempts. Nunez's five scoring throws matched the program record set by Jake Delhomme in 1996. Overall, he helped guide the Ragin' Cajuns to a school record 759 yards of total offense, which was the third highest total by any FBS team this season. His career day made him the 34th quarterback in Louisiana history to throw for at least 300 yards in a game and the 315 passing yard total was the 22nd-best passing performance in school history. He finished with a passing efficiency of 247.8 against the Aggies, which was the second-best in the FBS this past weekend and the 10th-best by any quarterback this season. According to ESPN's QBR system, Nunez had the third-best QBR in the FBS this past weekend, finishing with a 96.8 rating.

Defensive Player of the Week

Jordan Fehr, Appalachian State (Jr., LB, Charlotte, N.C.)
Appalachian State junior linebacker Jordan Fehr totaled a career-high 14 tackles and made his first career solo sack in leading a defense that kept Arkansas State out of the end zone in a 35-9 Mountaineer road win. Six of his tackles were on plays that gained 1 yard or less, while seven were on plays that gained 2 yards or less. The first-year starting inside linebacker previously had a career high of nine tackles at Penn State. Fehr helped App State post a second-half shutout for the fourth straight game. The Mountaineers have a nation-best string of four consecutive games holding opponents to single-digit points. It was the first time the Red Wolves had been held to single digits in Jonesboro since 2007.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Tra Minter, South Alabama (Jr., RB, Ellaville, Ga.)
Tra Minter scored on a 75-yard punt return after the Jaguars forced a three-and-out by Alabama State to open the second half of Saturday's contest, the longest in school history and the first run back for a touchdown since Jeremé Jones' 54-yard effort in the 2010 season opener. The junior finished the game with 88 yards, the second-highest total in the program's record books, on three punt returns while adding a pair of kickoff returns for an additional 73 including a 45-yard effort after the Hornets only score of the contest that set up a 49-yard touchdown drive. Minter became just the second individual in program history to surpass 200 all-purpose yards in a game, ending up with a career-best 231 all-purpose yards.
