Texas State 72, Nicholls State 67
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women’s basketball team (1-1) defeated former Southland Conference foe Nicholls (0-3) by a count of 72-67 for the program’s first win of the season Friday evening at Strahan Arena.
Senior guard Toshua Leavitt was one of three Bobcats to enter the box score in double-figures. She led the Cats with 20 points, four rebounds and three assists. She connected on 6-of-12 shots from behind the 3-point line, marking the 11th time in her storied career that she has made at least six triples in a single game. On her second made 3-point field goal of the game, Leavitt slid into possession of second-place on the all-time Sun Belt Conference career 3-point record book. Now at 262 career makes, she trails Leslie Logsdon (Western Kentucky, ’05) by just 16 for the all-time conference mark.
Troy 92, Tennessee State 67
TROY, Alabama – Troy was lethal offensively and suffocating on defense in a 92-67 win over Tennessee State in Trojan Arena on Friday.
Amber Rivers scored 16 first half point and finished with a game-high 19, while Kate Rodgers turned in a career-high 12 rebounds for the Trojans. Five Troy players finished in double digits with Japonica James scoring a career-high 12 points as Jasmine Robinson, Shaterrika O'Neal and Harriet Winchester added 10 points each.

Georgia Southern 82, Savannah State 71
SAVANNAH – Alexis Brown hit for a career-high 24 points, leading four Georgia Southern players in double figures as the Eagles collected their first win of the 2018-19 season, defeating Savannah State, 82-71, on Thursday evening at Tiger Arena in Savannah.
Tatum Barber and Nakol Franks added 11 points apiece, while Amira Atwater chipped in 10 points. But Brown set the tone, scoring 15 first-half points to help Georgia Southern build a 45-33 halftime lead and keep that advantage throughout the rest of the game. The Eagles outscored the Tigers 28-15 in the second quarter.
Appalachian State 68, UNC Greensboro 65
BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's basketball (1-2) earned a gritty 68-65 victory over UNCG (1-2) on Thursday evening in the home opener at the Holmes Center.
Lainey Gosnell went a stellar 8-for-8 from the charity stripe with three buckets en route to a team and season-high 14 points with five boards. Pre Stanley stepped up with 13 points and also went unblemished with a 6-for-6 showing from the charity stripe and five rebounds. Madi Story rounded out the leading scorers with a season-best 11 points, led the team with seven rebounds and shot 7-of-7 from the line.
ULM 93, LSU-Alexandria 62
MONROE, La. - It was quite the home debut for Tiara Malone, Amber Thompson, and the ULM women's basketball team.
Malone poured in a career-high 24 points on 8-for-12 shooting (4-for-7 3-point shooting), while Thompson added 17 points, six assists and five rebounds, as the Warhawks rode a strong offensive effort to a 93-62 rout of LSU-Alexandria on Field Trip Day Thursday morning and afternoon at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
