Coastal Carolina 81, Bowling Green 80
CONWAY – On Friday afternoon, junior guard DJ Williams scored a game-high 26 points and hit a pair of free throws with 5.9 seconds left to lift Coastal Carolina to a thrilling 81-80 win over Bowling Green University at the HTC Center. Junior guard Catlin Roche added a career high 21 points as the Chanticleers, who never led in the game until the end, improved to 3-1 on the season.
Bowling Green's senior guard Sydney Lambert got off a 3-point try that missed as the buzzer sounded, ending the Falcons' three-game winning streak and leaving them at 3-2 on the year. Lambert led her team with 21 points while freshman guard Morgan McMillien added 15 points.
Troy 84, Sam Houston State 79
HATTIESBURG, Mississippi – Troy erased a 17-point second quarter deficit to defeat Sam Houston State, 84-79, on Friday in Reed Green Coliseum on Friday.
After both teams combined to shoot just 2-of-19 to open the game, the Bearkats (2-3) exploded on a 19-3 run to end the first quarter and take a 21-8 lead after 10 minutes. The eight points in the first frame were a season low for the Trojans (4-1).
Rice 66, Georgia State 49
HOUSTON - Georgia State's women's basketball team picked up its first loss of the season Friday at the Tudor Fieldhouse, falling 66-49 to Rice.
Jada Lewis led the Panthers in scoring with 14 points. Walnatia Wright recorded her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Allison Johnson also finished in double digits with 13 points.
No. 20 Texas A&M 97, Arkansas State 56
COLLEGE STATION, Texas. (11/23/18) – The Arkansas State women’s basketball team fell to No. 20 Texas A&M 97-56 at Reed Arena Friday afternoon.
The Aggies took control of the game from the start and went on a 10-0 run to build a double-digit advantage just minutes into the game, but Kayla Williams provided a spark off the bench as she hit a pair of 3-pointers in the period to draw A-State within 21-16.
Fresno State 70, UTA 61
FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State held off multiple second-half runs from UT Arlington to top the Lady Mavericks 70-61 on Friday night at the Save Mart Center.
Down double digits at halftime, UTA rallied back within one before another run pulled Fresno State away to start the fourth. The Lady Mavericks did it once again, but then the shots would go cold as UTA went scoreless for more than six minutes to fall to 2-2 on the season. Fresno State improved to 3-1 in avenging last season's Black Friday loss to UTA at College Park Center.
