South Alabama 75, Spring Hill 57
Antoinette Lewis recorded a double-double to lead four University of South Alabama women's basketball players with 10-plus points as the Jaguars opened the 2018-19 season with a 75-57 win Wednesday over Spring Hill at the Mitchell Center.
Lewis paced the Jags with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Savannah Jones scored 15 points, Shaforia Kines added 14 and Damaya Telemaque chipped in with 12 in her collegiate debut. South connected on 11 three-point fields while posting 12 blocked shots on the other end of the court.
Tiffany Valentine scored a game-high 22 points for the Badgers and Tiffany Stokely contributed 10, while Daja Walker led SHC with seven boards.
Georgia State 70, UNC Greensboro 63
New head coach Gene Hill improved to 1-0 as head coach of the Panthers Wednesday morning in the Sports Arena as GSU defeated UNCG 70-63 to open the 2018-19 season.
Walnatia Wright tallied a double-double, leading GSU in points with 15 and rebounds with 11. Jada Lewis totaled 14 points and a team-high six assists and K.K. Williams also finished in double figures with 13 points.
