Women's Basketball Recaps and Scores - December 12

Troy 91, Talladega 70
TROY, Alabama – Troy led for all but 16 seconds in a 91-70 win over Talladega on Wednesday in Trojan Arena.

The Trojans (7-2) trailed 4-2 early before finishing the opening quarter on a 31-12 run and led by 20 or more for three and a half quarters.

All 12 Troy players scored at least four points and played six minutes and had a rebound. Amber Rivers led the way with 12 points while Sky'Lynn Holmes was the only other Trojans in double figures with 11 points; Rivers and Holmes had eight rebounds each. Kayla Robinson turned in a full stat sheet with nine points, nine boards, six assists and four steals.

Georgia Southern 69, Presbyterian 68
CLINTON, S.C. – Junior Amira Atwater's floating shot in the lane banked in with three seconds left to give the Georgia Southern women's basketball team a come-from-behind 69-68 victory at Presbyterian College on Wednesday at the Ross E. Templeton Center in Clinton, S.C.

The Eagles (3-5) erased a 16-point first-half deficit against the Blue Hose (1-6) and withstood a night in which Presbyterian hit 16 three-pointers, tied for the most by a Georgia Southern opponent in a single game in school history.

Ole Miss 79, Louisiana 57
OXFORD, Miss. – Sophomore center Ty'Reona Doucet recorded her seventh double-double of the season, but it was not enough to power Louisiana Women's Basketball (2-7) to a big road win, as the Ragin' Cajuns lost to the Ole Miss Rebels (5-6), 79-57, at The Pavilion at Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss.

Doucet finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds, both team and game highs, while freshman Brandi Williams dropped 14 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field to lead Louisiana in scoring. But a tough second quarter, where Ole Miss outscored Louisiana 25-5 was the difference in the game as Louisiana dropped its fifth-straight game.
