ARLINGTON – Two late long-range daggers in the final minute broke a tie game and sparked No. 25 Southern California by UT Arlington, 73-61, on Saturday at College Park Center.
The Lady Mavericks, falling in final-minute heartbreakers to both Power 5 opponents this season, saw the end of their five-game winning streak and went to 7-3 overall. USC bounced back from its first loss of the season in its last time out to move to 10-1.
Tulane 67, Texas State 61
NEW ORLEANS – The Texas State women's basketball team (4-7) dropped an overtime decision by a score of 67-61 at Tulane (8-3) in the consolation round of the Tulane Classic on Saturday afternoon at Devlin Fieldhouse. The loss is the third-straight for the Bobcats.
Texas State was led in scoring by all-tournament junior guard Brooke Holle. She posted a season-high 24 points on 9-of-22 (40.9 percent) from the floor. She added 10 rebounds to her line, marking her first double-double of the season. She also contributed three assists and a pair of steals in 43 minutes of run.
