South Alabama 72, Alabama 67
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of South Alabama women's basketball team went into Tuscaloosa and earned a 72-67 non-conference road victory over Alabama at the Coleman Coliseum on Wednesday afternoon. It was the Jags first win in Tuscaloosa, third-straight win against the Tide, and first victory against a SEC team since defeating Ole Miss 67-60 eight years ago to the date in 2010.
Alabama took control of the game early and led the Jags 18-9 at the conclusion of the first quarter. South gained their composure and took charge of the contest late in the second quarter. Damaya Telemaque capped off a 14-0 run with a two-pointer to give the Jags a three-point lead heading into halftime. Although Alabama made various comebacks in the second half, South did not give back the lead once they gained it for the first time.
Coastal Carolina 128, Meredith College 39
Conway, S.C. – Junior guard Caitlin Roche scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures Wednesday as Coastal Carolina ran away with a 128-39 win over Meredith College at the HTC Center.
Coastal improved to 6-1 on the year with its four consecutive win. Wednesday's game marked an HTC Center record as Coastal won its eighth consecutive home game in the building.
