INDIANAPOLIS - The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and Troy Trojans received NCAA regional bids to the 2018 NCAA Baseball tournament as the field of 64 was announced on ESPNU on Monday.
The Chanticleers (42-17) claimed its first Sun Belt baseball tournament title Sunday with a 11-6, victory over Troy. CCU will host the Conway regional on campus at Springs Brooks Stadium as the Chanticleers are the No. 15 national seed. Coastal welcomes Connecticut, Washington and LIU-Brooklyn to Conway for the Conway regional.
The hosts will take on LIU-Brooklyn (31-24) on Friday, June 1st at 5 p.m. (CT). UCONN and Washington get underway on Friday at 11 a.m. (CT). This is Coastal's 16th appearance in the NCAA baseball tournament and first since winning the College World Series in 2016.
Troy (41-19) will be the No. 3 seed in the Athens regional and will play Friday, June 1st at 1 p.m. CT against No. 2 seed Duke (40-15). Georgia is the host of the Athens regional and the Bulldogs will take on Campbell in the following matchup at 6:30 p.m. CT.
This is Troy's seventh appearance in the NCAA baseball tournament and first since 2013.
