Football Players of the Week Announced - Week 4

OFFENSIVE PLYER OF THE WEEK
 
Kaleb Barker, Troy (Jr., QB, Decatur, Ala.)
Kaleb Barker accounted for four touchdowns and 323 yards of total offense as Troy defeated ULM on Saturday and won for the first time in Monroe since 2001. Barker completed 82.1 percent of his passes (23-of-28) for 273 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 15 times for 50 yards. He became the first Troy quarterback in three years to rush for multiple touchdowns in a game and at one point completed 14 consecutive pass attempts. Barker has completed 70.3 percent of his passes this season and has accounted for 10 total touchdowns.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
 
William Bradley-King, Arkansas State (So., DE, Kansas City, Mo.)
William Bradley-King recorded his second career forced fumble while setting new career highs with nine tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks during Arkansas State’s 27-20 victory over UNLV. With the Red Wolves leading 27-20, Bradley-King recorded a strip-sack on fourth down that ended UNLV’s final possession and secured the victory for Arkansas State. The Kansas City, Mo., native also posted a sack on the final play of the first half, helping preserve a six-point A-State lead by not allowing UNLV quarterback Armani Rogers to get off a pass to the end zone. He additionally came up with tackles on two third-down plays that forced UNLV punts during the game.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
 
Steven Jones, Appalachian State (Fr., DB, Rockingham, N.C.)
Steven Jones, a redshirt freshman cornerback, tied a school record with two blocked punts, one of which he recovered himself for a first-quarter touchdown in the Mountaineers’ 72-7 win over Gardner-Webb. His second-quarter punt block led to a 9-yard Darrynton Evans touchdown run on the next play. Just over a minute later, Jones also provided an early block that helped spring Clifton Duck to a 62-yard punt return for another score. App State has now scored a nation-high four special teams touchdowns this season.
