BOONE, N.C.- Four Trojans would finish in double figures and Terrion Moore would notch her career-high with 17 points to lead the Trojans to a 74-59 win over hosts Appalachian State on Saturday afternoon.
Ronjanae DeGray put in a great performance, scoring 24 points on 12-20 shooting while pulling down eight rebounds. Tori Lasker would finish with 10 points, three rebounds and four assists while Kyra Collier would tally 13 points on 6-10 shooting in only 17 minutes.
Coastal Carolina 88, Arkansas State 72
CONWAY – Junior guard Caitlin Roche hit for a career high 28 points and junior guard DJ Williams scored 21 of her 23 points in the second half as Coastal Carolina finished on a 19-2 run to earn an 88-72 win over Arkansas State in a Sun Belt Conference game Saturday at the HTC Center.
The win snapped a six-game losing streak for the Chanticleers and improved their record to 9-9 overall and 1-6 in the Sun Belt. Arkansas State got 14 points from Peyton Martin but the Red Wolves fell to 8-11, 3-5, with their fifth consecutive loss.
UTA 69, Georgia State 45
ARLINGTON, Texas – Three Lady Mavericks scored in double figures as the UTA women's basketball team led start to finish in a 69-45 win over Georgia State on Saturday at College Park Center.
The Lady Mavs shot 45.0 percent (27-of-60) from the floor, 50 percent (10-of-20) from long distance and went 5-of-6 (83.3 percent) from the charity stripe, while the Panthers were forced into 20 turnovers and hit just 14-of-45 (31.1 percent) shots from the field and 4-of-18 (22.2 percent) attempts from behind the arc.
Georgia Southern 65, Texas State 55
SAN MARCOS, Texas - Alexis Brown scored a game-high 31 points and Georgia Southern put together a smothering defensive performance in recording a 65-55 Sun Belt Conference women's basketball victory over host Texas State on Saturday afternoon at Strahan Arena.
The Eagles (6-13, 1-7 SBC) halted an eight-game slide with their first Sun Belt Conference win of the season, while Texas State (9-11, 4-4 SBC) suffered its fourth loss in its last five games.
Troy 90, Louisiana 64
TROY, Alabama – Sky'Lynn Holmes and Japonica James turned in monster performances to lead Troy to a 90-64 win over Louisiana on Saturday in Trojan Arena.
Holmes finished the game with 15 points, 20 rebounds and five assists. The rebound mark was the second-highest of her career (21) and just two behind tying the program's single-game record of 22 set by Caitlyn Ramirez in 2017.
