PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. Four teams advanced to the semifinal round to conclude the second day of competition at the 2021 Sun Belt Women's Tennis Championships.
Despite dropping the doubles point to Troy, South Alabama was able to win four straight singles matches to advance. USA will square off against Coastal Carolina in Saturday’s semifinal round at 10 a.m. ET.
In match four, the Chanticleers won the doubles point after claiming victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 contests. CCU won three singles matches on courts one, two and three to win the match over Louisiana.
Regular season champion UTA took an early lead in the match versus Texas State with doubles victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 contests. The Mavericks kept building momentum during singles play as they defeated the Bobcats in three consecutive matchups.
In the final match, Georgia Southern earned the doubles point over ULM and carried the energy into singles, winning three straight to advance to the semifinals to face UTA on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.
