FOLEY, Ala. – Old Dominion senior Megan Watts scored the game-winner in the 83
rd minute to lift the No. 6 seed Monarchs over No. 3 seed Arkansas state in game three of the 2022 Sun Belt Women’s Soccer Tournament at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala.
Old Dominion (8-8-2) won its first ever Sun Belt Tournament match to reverse the regular season outcome. On October 20, the Red Wolves earned a 1-0 victory with 28 seconds on the clock, however the Monarchs’ late goal sends ODU to the semifinals.
Old Dominion advances to face the winner of No. 2 seed South Alabama and No. 10 seed Marshall on Friday, November 4. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Arkansas State (9-6-3) were limited to four shots during the match. The Red Wolves led within the net garnering four saves and led in corners 3-2. Arkansas State also had just one shot on frame.
The Monarchs tallied six shots in each half to lead 12-4 and maintained 21% of its possession within the attacking quarter of the field. They held a 52-48 time in possession advantage.
