South Alabama Overcomes Early Deficit with Offensive Showcase Against Marshall

FOLEY, Ala. – South Alabama used a pair of overtime goals to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit against Marshall. The Jaguars ended the score line at 3-1 in game four of the 2022 Sun Belt Women’s Soccer Tournament at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala.
 
No. 2 seed South Alabama (11-2-6) answered with offensive fire power in game number four. The Jaguars advance to face No. 6 seed Old Dominion on Friday, November 4. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
 
No. 10 seed Marshall (4-10-5) took an early lead in the match in the 15th minute as Kat Gonzalez scored her second goal of the tournament again from distance. The Herd led 1-0 at the break and held up defensively until the 77th minute. Marshall totaled 10 shots in the match but were outshot 10-3 in the second half.
 
The Jaguars scored the equalizer in the 77th minute as Sydney Ham crossed the ball to the head of Morgan Cross. Four minutes into the second overtime, a foul in the box put Cross on the line for a penalty. She converted with a perfectly placed ball into the lower right corner to give South Alabama the 2-1 lead. Imane Addi scored two minutes later unassisted from distance to put the match away 3-1.
