James Madison Advance to First Sun Belt Semifinal Appearance with Shutout Win

FOLEY, Ala. – No. 4 seed James Madison outshot No. 5 seed Texas State 16-6 to secure the 1-0 victory, and its first Sun Belt Conference Tournament Semifinals appearance.
 
The win matches the Dukes (11-3-5) with No. 8 seed Georgia State on Friday, November 4 at 7 p.m. CST at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
 
Texas State (12-5-2) totaled three shots in each of the two halves as Lily Erb provided both chances on goal. Katelyn Chrisman totaled six saves in the match with four coming in the first half to preserve the 0-0 tie at the half.
 
Attanasi scored the game-winning goal for James Madison just 11 minutes after the teams returned to the field from halftime. The assist came swinging in from Suwaibatu Mohammed. Alexandra Blom was called to action twice in goal and saved both opportunities, as the junior set a new program benchmark for her class with eight shutouts this year. As a team, it was the 12th shutout for the Dukes, which also set a new program record.
