Little Rock Wins First Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship in Match Play Era

EL DORADO, Ark. - (Semifinal Results | Championship Results) Little Rock secured its third all-time Sun Belt men’s golf championship—and its first during the match play era—with a 3-1-1 win over Georgia Southern in Wednesday afternoon’s championship match. 
 
Senior Marcel Rauch earned the first match win for the Trojans, defeating Georgia Southern senior Wilson Andress, 3&2. Little Rock junior Nicholas Horder followed in short order with a 4&3 win over senior Colin Bowles. 
 
Senior Ben Carr got the Eagles on the board with a 5&4 victory over fellow senior Anton Albers to make it 2-1—with tight matches being contested in the third and fourth pairings. 
 
Little Rock was 1-Up in the the third pairing and the teams were all-square in the fourth pairing heading to the par-5 18th hole at Mystic Creek Golf Club. There, junior Jansen Smith clinched the match for the Trojans by halving the hole with Georgia Southern freshman Hogan Ingram on No. 18. 
 
In Wednesday morning’s semifinal matches, No. 2-seeded Little Rock took down No. 3 seed UTA, 3-2-0, behind victories by junior Magnus Lomholt (4&3), junior Jansen Smith (4&3) and senior Marcel Rauch (3&2) in the first three pairings. Top-seeded Georgia Southern advanced by besting No. 4 seed Georgia State, 3-2-0, with wins from senior Wilson Andress (3&1), freshman Hogan Ingram (5&3) and senior Ben Carr (3&2).
